Fruit bearing tree
Father God, we thank you for this new day. This is the day that You have made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you for the Word and may You give us understanding as read in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Galatians 2:22-23 (NLT)
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."
Amen, thank you LORD.
Today's devotional is based on the fruit of the Spirit called kindness.
I want you to imagine you were a big, tall tree with branches filled with fruit everywhere. But before, we get to this part, let us start from the beginning. We can agree that before a tree is formed, a seed has to be planted first, right? Now as children of God, this seed is known as the Word of God (Luke 8:11).
In order for the seed to grow, it has to be planted in good soil. This good soil is known as your heart. In addition, the good seed in good soil also needs water because without water, the seed will not be able to grow into a tree. So what happens, God will send water from heaven in the form of rain but most times, we have to water the seed ourselves. The best way to water the seed of God's Word planted in us is by reading our Bible.
Jeremiah 17:7 (NKJV) shares with us a good example and says, "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit."
The LORD shows us that when we read His Word, we have access to the living water which enables us to become a fruitful tree bearing fruit in every season, amen. As a child of God, I want you to know that you are that big, tall tree that bears the fruit of love, where you love your neighbor as you love yourself. You bear the fruit of joy and peace. You bear the fruit of patience. You bear the fruit of kindness with everyone you meet and share your toys and food with those in need. You bear the fruit of goodness, faithfulness where you are obedient to God and your parents. You bear the fruit of gentleness and self-control. God says, you can always be these things not only with yourself but with those around you because you are like a tree planted by the riverside with the water of God's Word which is watering you and making you bear good fruit, AMEN.
Activity: Meditate on one of the fruits mentioned above for example, kindness, and think of one way you can grow in kindness to yourself and the people around you.
Invitation to salvation: As children of God, we are only able to bear fruit when we have a personal relationship with Jesus, the Son of God. This is because Jesus died for our sins and gives eternal life that enables us to have God as our Father with heaven as our home. When we receive Jesus Christ, we are also able to bear the different fruit of the Spirit mentioned above. If this sounds like you, please say this prayer with me;
"Thank you Father God for sending Your One and Only Beloved Son Jesus Christ who died for my sins on the cross and who was raised from the dead so that I could have Life. I receive Him today as Lord and Saviour of my life in the name of Jesus, Amen."
Prayer: Father God, thank you for each child that just said this prayer and received Jesus into their hearts. Thank you LORD God that You are keeping them this day and all the days of their lives and nothing will snatch them out of Your loving hands in the name of Jesus, Amen.
