God never fails - The story of Joseph

Father God, thank you for Your Word. Thank you that as we read it, You helping us to understand the Word. We also ask God, write the Word on our hearts and minds in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

In the book of Genesis chapters 37-41, is a story of a boy called Joseph. Joseph was a son to Jacob also known as Israel. Now Israel loved his son Joseph very much. His brothers on the other hand did not like Joseph because they were jealous that their father liked him more than he liked them. One day God gives Joseph a promise. This promise was through dreams he had that he was going to be someone every important and that his father and brothers would bow down to him. When Joseph told this dream to his families, this made his brothers hate him even more because his dream meant he was going to be ruler over them (Genesis 37:8).

Joseph went through many trials on his way to this dream. That is, his brothers who were jealous of him sold him as a slave in a foreign land called Egypt (Genesis 37:27-28). When he got to Egypt, he was a slave (Genesis 39:3-4) but then he was accused for doing a crime he did not do and then he was sent to prison. While in prison, Joseph never gave up on serving God as he helped people who were in there. One day, Joseph helped two men by interpreting their dreams. These two men happened to work in the king's palace and one of these men, the chief butler was restored to his original position in the King's palace (Genesis 40:11).

Two years later, Pharaoh had a disturbing dream (Genesis 41:1) nobody could help him interpret the dream. The chief butler told Joseph about Pharaoh who helped him interpret his dream while he was in prison (Genesis 41:11-12) and Pharaoh immediately sent for Joseph from prison. When Joseph came before the king of Egypt, God helped him to interpret the Pharaoh's dream. After he did this, Pharaoh said he had not seen such wisdom before and made him second in command to him and ruler of all Egypt (Genesis 41:39-41).

When God gave Joseph the dream of becoming someone important and big one day, he was about 17 years of age and this dream came to pass when he was 30 years old (Genesis 41:46).

Child of God, God never lies. Despite the hard things that Joseph went through, God made sure that His Word came to pass in Joseph's life. At no point in the Bible does it say anywhere that Joseph complained but he put his trust and faith in God who brought the promise to pass in his life. If God said something, He will also do it.

Prayer: Father God, thank you that Your Word never fails and even right now, You are watching Your Word to perform it over our lives in the name of Jesus. Thank you LORD that You are always faithful and every promise and blessing You have given us has come to pass in our lives now in the name of Jesus. Thank you LORD that the every wait is over for anyone believing you for a promise just like it was with Joseph in the name of Jesus, Amen.

I'll end with this Word found in Numbers 23:19-20 (NKJV)

  1. "God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

  2. Behold I have received a command to bless, He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Invitation to salvation: If you would like to be born again by receiving Jesus, God's Son who gives Life to everyone by forgiving all your sins and by His wounds, you are healed. Please say this prayer with me;

"Thank you Father God for sending Your One and Only Beloved Son Jesus Christ who died for my sins on the cross and who was raised from the dead so that I could have Life. I receive Him today as Lord and Saviour of my life in the name of Jesus, Amen."
