Light and salt

Matthew 5:13 (NIrV)

"You are the salt of the earth. But suppose the salt loses its saltiness. How can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything. It will be thrown out. People will walk over it."

Amen, thank you LORD.

Today's devotional, Jesus is reminding us that we are the salt of the earth. Can anyone think of the last time they had a meal without salt? I'm sure we can both agree that salt makes our food tasty. As God's child, Jesus is reminding you that you are the salt of the earth. So wherever you go, you are God's light and salt which means God works through you to help make the environment you are in much better. For example, tell your friend about Jesus and invite them to church in case they don't have a home church, help a friend with their homework, show acts of kindness and share your food with a hungry friend or sit with someone who maybe sitting alone in the school lunch area. When you live your life like this, Jesus says you are living your life as the salt of the earth. However, it is important to remember that Jesus is the source of our saltiness. Without Jesus, we cannot have the right flavour and the ability to become the salt and light of the world. This is where it becomes important to have a personal relationship with Jesus, the Son of God who came to die for the sins of the world.

Invitation to salvation: If you would like to have a personal relationship with God as your Father and His Son Jesus who died for our sins and receive eternal life - which means you get to be with God in heaven all your life, please say this prayer below:

"Thank you Father God for sending Jesus, Your One and Only Son to die for my sins. I receive Him today and forever as Lord and Saviour of my life in the name of Jesus, Amen."

Prayer: Father God, thank you for giving me a personal relationship with Your Son, Jesus. Thank you that because of Jesus, I have eternal life which means my sins are forgiven and I have a home in heaven with you. Thank you that because of Jesus, I can be the salt and light in the world. I ask Father that you teach me how to always walk in the saltiness and light You have given me all the days of my life so that I can be useful in Your Kingdom and for Your glory in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
