The name of Jesus

Father God, thank you for this is the day that You have made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it. May you give us understanding as we read and share the Word today and may You write Your word on our hearts and our minds in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.

Today's devotional is based on the power of God that is found in the name of Jesus. In the book of Acts, is a story of two apostles who while on their way to pray at the temple, saw a lame man. This lame man was sitting outside the gate of beautiful begging for money (Acts 3:1-2). The names of these two Apostles were Peter and John who also happened to be Jesus' disciples.

Since they spent a lot of time with Jesus, they were able to see Jesus do many miracles like healing people, raising the dead back to life, opening blind eyes, healing people and many other miracles. But now that Jesus had gone to heaven, He told his disciples just like He reminds you and I that He will always be with us and will never leave us alone (Matthew 28:20).

The name of Jesus is a reminder that Jesus is always with us. When the apostles, Peter and John, saw the lame man who was sitting outside at the gate called Beautiful, they felt kindness towards him and wanted to help. So Peter asked the lame man to look in his direction and then he said to him, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, raise up and walk." (Acts 1:6). Shortly after this, the lame man started walking, leaping and praising God (Acts 1:8).

It is important to remember that Peter and John did not have the power to make this man walk (Acts 3:16). However, they had faith in using the name of Jesus because they believed in the power of God found in this name and knew that if they prayed in the name of Jesus, God would heal the lame man.

Invitation to salvation: If you would like to belong to Jesus by having a personal relationship with God as your Father and His Son Jesus who died for our sins and receive eternal life - which means you get to be with God in heaven all your life, please say this prayer below:

"Thank you Father God for sending Jesus, Your One and Only Son to die for my sins. I receive Him today and forever as Lord and Saviour of my life in the name of Jesus, Amen."

Prayer: Father God, thank you for the free gift of salvation that is found in Your Son, Jesus. Thank you Father God for the power that You have given us that is found in the name of Jesus. Thank you God that we can use the name of Jesus in prayer for ourselves and others and we know you will answer our prayers. Thank you LORD that every false burden is removed from the lives of your children in the name of Jesus. Thank you LORD that every child feeling sick is healed right now in the name of Jesus. Thank you LORD that from this day, Your children are free from all fear, doubt, anxiety and worry in the name of Jesus for he who the Son sets free is free indeed. I declare Your children are free in the name of Jesus. Thank you Father God that the name of Jesus is a reminder that Your presence is with us and that You will never leave nor forsake us in the name of Jesus, Amen.
