The Son of God
Father God, thank you for ears that are attentive to Your Word and hearts that understand the Word of God. By Your grace, may we always be doers of the Word and not only hearers in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
John 3:16 (NKJV)
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Amen, thank you LORD.
Jesus is the Son of God and it is important to remember this truth. This is because when God saw sin that was introduced by the enemy, God was always looking for a way to help mankind so that they would be delivered from sin. Sin happened when Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden disobeyed God when they listened to the serpent and ate the forbidden fruit that God told them to not eat (Genesis 3:1-5). Their disobedience brought sin into the world. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they had to leave the garden of Eden which was also God's presence. Before, the enemy came to tempt Adam and Eve into sin, what happened was Adam and Eve were always in God's presence and had they a very close relationship with God. This story reminds us that sin is really bad because it separated man from the close relationship that he had with God. God always wants to be with us and to spend time in close fellowship with us but when there is sin, it removes holiness and God is holy.
To bring us back to this place of close relationship, God sent Jesus to the world to die for sins of the world on the cross and to raise from the dead so that whoever would receive Him would be born again and be made free from the power of sin making them alive because of the new life they received in Christ Jesus.
Today's devotional is a reminder of God's love that is found in the Son. God did not send anyone or an angel to die for the sins of the world but He sent His One and Only Beloved Son. This shows us how much God loves and values man kind because He sent His heart, the Beloved Son in whom is forgiveness of sins and eternal life so that all mankind can know how much we are loved by God.
Invitation to salvation: As children of God, we are only able to eat the bread of life when we have a personal relationship to know Jesus, the Son of God. This is because Jesus died for our sins and gives eternal life and by His stripes we were healed. When we receive Jesus Christ, God draws our hearts to His heart to enable us spend time with Him.
If this sounds like you, please say this prayer with me;
"Thank you Father God for sending Your One and Only Beloved Son Jesus Christ who died for my sins on the cross and who was raised from the dead so that I could have Life. I receive Him today as Lord and Saviour of my life in the name of Jesus, Amen."
Prayer: Father God, thank you for each child and family member that just said this prayer and received Jesus into their hearts. Thank you LORD God that You are keeping them this day and forever and nothing will snatch them out of Your loving hands in the name of Jesus, Amen.
