The Word
John 1:1 (NKJV)
"In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God."
We have been looking at the different roles Jesus is in our lives. First, we know that Jesus is the Son of God who came to save us from sin which makes Him our Savior. We also know that Jesus is Lord which means that when we receive Him in our lives, we trust Him to lead, guide our lives and keep our souls.
We also looked at Jesus as the High Priest where He is always before God's throne making prayers on our behalf. We have also looked at Jesus as our Friend forever who sticks closer to us in good times and some not so good times. and
Today, we are looking at Jesus as the Word of God. The verse above tells us that Jesus was with God while He was creating the world. Can you imagine that? When God created the world, He used the Word to create the world which makes Jesus a part of everything we see because He is the Word of God.
Today, we are reminded that the Bible we read is Jesus Himself and one of Jesus' other names is the Word of God (Revelation 19:13). This shows us that when we read the Word, we are spending time with God Himself and in His presence which is the reason we ought to pay attention as we read the Word.
Homework: I want you to consider with your family how often you read the Word of God and what are some of your favourite promises that God has given to us in the Bible?
Prayer: Father God, thank you for a fresh grace to read and understand the Word of God in a new way. May we always be people that read, hear and do what the Word of God says in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD
Invitation to salvation: The best gift that Jesus gave is by laying down His life for us to receive salvation and eternal life which is a personal relationship knowing God as our Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
If you would like to receive this free gift of God's salvation, please say this prayer with me:
"I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that God sent His One and only Son who died for my sins and was raised from the dead so that I could have eternal life." - AMEN.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for salvation and redemption that we have freely received from Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of our lives. Thank you LORD for each child and family member that just said this prayer and received Jesus into their hearts. Thank you LORD God that You are keeping them this day and forever and nothing will snatch them out of Your loving hands in the name of Jesus, Amen.
